You must install R and RStudio on your PCs before attending the workshop.

Download and Install R and RStudio

In this workshop, we will be using the free and open-source program R, along with a user interface called RStudio. R works on pretty much every platform available, including the widely available Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux systems.

Step 1: Download software

Follow the url below and download R and R studio.

Step 2: Install R first

Step 3: After installing R, install R Studio on your computer

Step 4: Note to Windows Users (optional for Mac OS and Linux users)

In addition to R and RStudio, download Rtools software from the following link and install it on your computer.

To download R tools: https://cran.r-project.org/bin/windows/Rtools/

Now you have successfully installed R and RStudio. Without installing R and RStudio you will not be able to follow the steps given below.

Step 5: Install R packages (optional)

Please install the following R packages if you know how to install packages in R. All of the following packages are available on CRAN.

  1. tidyverse

  2. rmarkdown

  3. knitr

  4. palmerpenguins

If you do not know how to install packages in R, but want to give yourself a try please read the guidelines here and install the above package list.

If you are completely new to R, don’t worry we will teach how to install packages during the workshop.
